June 21,2010 Message from LPSD Board of Education

June 21, 2010

June 21, 2010
Dear D-38 Families and Patrons:
On June 17th, the Lewis-Palmer School District Board of Education unanimously accepted the resignation of Superintendent Dr. Raymond Blanch. Dr. Blanch has served the LP community for nine years in a variety of leadership roles. Among other significant accomplishments, as Superintendent in 2007, he was instrumental in creating a community-driven strategic vision for the District – thus guiding the educational decisions for students throughout the Tri-Lakes community.
Dr. Blanch has attributed his resignation to both personal and professional reasons, “I believe this is the best thing for my family at this point in time, and I wish all those in Lewis- Palmer the best in their pursuit of excellence.”
Moving forward, the Board of Education will be appointing an acting Superintendent on June 22nd to ensure a smooth transition and steady leadership over the summer. During the summer, the Board will publicly conduct a search for an interim Superintendent to serve throughout the 2010-2011 school year. Then a thorough, nationwide search will be conducted for a full-time Superintendent to serve in subsequent years.
Lewis-Palmer schools face many unknowns in the future regarding school finance. Quite properly, the Tri-Lakes community is concerned with how those unknowns will impact the ability to provide the very best educational opportunities for each and every child in the District. The Board’s focus will be on supporting the outstanding and proven educators and support staff in meeting these and other challenges.
The Board of Education will continue to advise the community of actions to address filling the superintendent position. If you have specific questions or comments you are encouraged to contact school board members via their email addresses posted on the D-38 web site, or the District at info@lewispalmer.org or (719)785-4223.

Sincerely,
Lewis-Palmer School District Board of Education
John Mann, President
Robb Pike, Vice President
Mark Pfoff, Treasurer
Jeff Ferguson, Secretary
Gail Wilson
