Letter to the Lewis-Palmer School District 38 Community – Aug. 12, 2010

August 13, 2010

A message from the Superintendent posted August 12, 2010:

Dear Lewis-Palmer School District 38 Community:

I am excited about the opportunity to serve as Interim Superintendent for the 2010-2011 school year. This school district has a tradition and foundation of excellence, and I will do my best to help that continue. Together, with the school board, a talented administrative team, skilled and dedicated teaching staff, and loyal, committed support staff, we will make every attempt to see that the students in this district are offered opportunities to be successful in the classroom and in life.

The first day of school was August 12th. Our schools are ready, our transportation department is ready, our food service and maintenance departments are ready, and most important, our teachers are ready to provide an exciting learning experience for the students of this community throughout the year.

Obviously, these are uncertain times faced by school districts due to the economic downturn at all levels. In spite of this difficulty, we will work hard to maintain our standards of excellence in both academic and extracurricular activities. Our quality of life, home values, and the amenities that go along with a productive and progressive community are dependent upon a school district that values the great teaching and learning taking place in our schools. I am proud of our past accomplishments, and with your support, this district will do its best to keep that going while facing the financial challenges in the coming year.

I look forward to getting to know those of you new to our community and reacquainting with those I have not seen in a while. Working together strengthens our schools, and our schools strengthen our Tri-Lakes community.

I hope to see you sometime this year.
